Deadlines

The Faculty Ethics Committee works on a rolling deadline and will deal with appliciations as they are submitted via REAMs.

Applications will not be reviewed during the Summer Research period. If you would like your application reviewed before the end of this academic year, please submit no later than Tuesday 7 May 2024.

Research Ethics Review Process

All research is subject to ethical scrutiny. However, only research involving human participants or their data or research involving animals requires ethical approval. Before you start your research confirm that you need ethical approval for your research. Please consult the supporting information on this process on the Trinity Research website.

Staff and PhD Students

All Staff and PhD Students must apply through the Research Ethics Administration Management System (REAMS). Click here for more information and a link to the REAMs system.

Other Current Students

All other students should apply via your School Ethics Committee.

In certain cases, your supervisor may advise you to apply to the Faculty Research Ethics Committee, which is available by clicking here. In this case, the following information must be uploaded:

1. Research Project Proposal, to include:

  • Title of Project
  • Purpose of Project including academic rationale
  • Brief Description of methods and measurements to be used
  • Relevant Participant Details, such as recruitment methods, number, age, gender, exclusion/inclusion criteria, with statistical justification for numbers of participants where relevant
  • Debriefing arrangement
  • A clear concise statement of the ethical considerations raised by the project and how you intend to deal with them, including consent
  • Cite legislation relevant to the project with the method of compliance, e.g. the Data Protection Act
  • Include copy of questionnaire where relevant
